Indira Lopez-Bassols

Indira started her yoga journey in 1996 and has been teaching for the past 23 years around the world (Mexico, the UK, Turkey, India and Portugal). Her first teacher was Herta Rogg, the only Iyengar certified teacher in Mexico back then.  And in Italy she studied with Donna Holleman, the first Western woman who trained under the guidance of BKS Iyengar. She holds a Level 3 teaching certificate.

She has practised Iyengar yoga through her three pregnancies. She has a special interest in women ‘s health from menarche to menopause (menstruation, fertility/conception, pregnancy, postnatal and peri/post menopause) and in restorative yoga to help alleviate chronic insomnia/stress/adrenal exhaustion.

She believes that yoga is not just about creating perfect geometric shapes. A sustained and continuous practice should lead us all to discover the deeper layers of our being aligning body, mind and heart. Captivated by her studies of yoga philosophy, mantra sadhana (practice) and Jyotish (Vedic astrology) her practice has become over the years much more devotional. Asanas are human sculptures which we offer to something higher and bigger than us. Her classes offer an exploration of asanas as portals to prepare us for breath work (pranayama), concentration and even meditation.

When you are inspired…dormant forces, faculties, and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.” —Patanjali
